History of High Mass Celebrations
The Hill of Crosses in Lithuania is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the country. Each year, thousands of pilgrims gather here to take part in the High Mass and other religious events, especially during the Feast of the Hill of Crosses.
Below is a brief history of previous High Mass celebrations.
High Mass on the Hill of Crosses
26–27 July 2014 – Feast of the Hill of Crosses
On 26 and 27 July 2014, thousands of pilgrims participated in the Feast of the Hill of Crosses. Many of them took part in a traditional 12-kilometer pilgrimage walk from Šiauliai Cathedral to the Hill of Crosses.
This pilgrimage expressed faith, devotion, and unity, as believers walked together in prayer before attending the High Mass at the sacred site.

27–28 July 2013 – Feast of the Hill of Crosses

- Feast of the Hill of Crosses
- 19:00 (local time) – Pilgrims could travel by bus from Šiauliai Cathedral
- The cathedral is located in the center of Šiauliai, about 1,000 meters from the main bus station.
28 July 2013 – Pilgrims’ Hike
- 11:00 (local time) – Pilgrims’ hike from Šiauliai Cathedral to the Hill of Crosses
- Distance: approximately 12 kilometers
- 15:00 (local time) – Holy Mass at the Hill of Crosses
- Bus transportation available
- Bus stop: Tilžės Street 170, Šiauliai
- Buses operated from 12:00 to 18:00 (local time)
Program of the High Mass
26 July 2012 (Sunday)
- 10:00 a.m. – Pilgrim march from Šiauliai to the Hill of Crosses
- 1:30 p.m. – Holy Mass
- 3:00 p.m. – Solemn High Mass at the Hill of Crosses
